Lego Museum

The private LEGO museum in Prague covers an area of 340 square meters. It is an exhibit of 2000 models made out of 1 000 000 LEGO bricks. You can find historic models here – the oldest one comes from 1958 – and that is the most interesting part, if you ask me. But kids might be interested in something completely different.

There are 20 exhibits divided by theme: LEGO Castles, cities, pirates (of the Caribbean), famous4 monuments and buildings, stone houses, building sites, the underwater world, Star Wars and many more – there’s something interesting for everyone.

The chilled out man with sandals and black, leaky socks is an obvious part of a commemorative photo. Some malignant people may think that these sandals and the entire model itself is a quintessence of the gentlemen’s “czechity” but I don’t mean to be that malignant ;)

There is one interactive exhibit – a simple and fascinating for younger visitors game of operating trains. If you’re planning a visit to the LEGO museum, don’t have delusions- this is not LEGOLAND. This is a museum which has quite an impressive collection. But younger children might not appreciate this rich collection and get stuck in one of the museum’s numerous playrooms.  But the slightly older kids might get very interested.

Near the cash registers there is a shop, which has recently expanded with an extra room. Here you can buy both brick sets and specific types of bricks (on weight). The assortment can shock the kids with its richness and also the adults with the prices.

In front of one of the rooms there is an armored door. There might have been a safe in this place once – visiting this room and looking at the half-open door might be interesting and claustrophobically disturbing for sensitive people. But that wasn’t a problem for Bartek – behind the armored door there is a room with a collection of pirate ships.
