History of Kutna Hora began in 1142 with the settlement of the first Cistercian Monastery in Bohemia, Kloster Sedlitz. Later in 12th and 13th century, town grew thanks to local rich silver mines. Between 13th and 16th city strongly competed with Prague as an economical, cultural and political center. Today Kutna Hora offers visitors many beautiful monuments like Cathedral of St. Barbara and Italian Court where the royal coins were minted. During our tour we will also visit a neighbouring town of Sedlec – well known for the Gothic Cathedral of Our Lady and the Ossuary (church decorated with bones of 40 000 victims of the so-called 30 year war of 1618 – 1648). In 1995 Old Town of Kutna Hora and Sedlec were included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage.
